A small circle of people who love walking together
We are a Christchurch-based group that organises gentle, hosted walks for residents and visitors who would rather explore on foot than alone.
From a Sunday habit to a hosted community
In 2019, three Hereford Street neighbours started meeting before sunrise for a quiet walk along the Avon. Friends joined. Then friends of friends. By the second winter, we needed a calendar, then a route plan, then a host rotation.
Today, Zythorinjlox organises three to five walks a week — riverside loops, park crossings, and gentle coastal lines. Each one is hosted, mapped and confirmed by email so that everyone arrives knowing what to expect.
We are not a sports club. We are a community that values pace, conversation and the small joy of finishing a walk together.
Four quiet promises we keep on every walk
Welcome first
Every walker is greeted by name. Newcomers get a short orientation before the route begins.
Honest pace
If a route says ninety minutes, it takes ninety minutes — including the photo stops.
Known routes
We only walk paths our hosts have scouted in the current season. No surprises underfoot.
Light footprint
We follow local park rules, carry our litter, and keep noise low near homes and wildlife.
The people behind the route plan
Anahera — lead host
Born in Christchurch, certified in outdoor first aid, and the author of most of our riverside routes.
Reihana — weekend host
Joined as a walker in 2021. Now leads our coastal-line group and writes the seasonal route notes.
Pounamu — coordinator
Manages the calendar, replies to messages within a working day, and keeps the host rota balanced.
Walk with us next weekend
Send a short note and we will reply with two or three routes that suit your pace.
